Aeronexus private jet charter airline has added even more passenger comfort to its VIP Boeing 767-300ER with the addition of a three-seater Berthable Divan from Starling Aerospace. This innovative seating solution neatly berths into a 91-inch-long by 35 inch wide flat bed and is certified for 9G and 16G aircraft.

Having already overhauled, refurbished and certified 96 lie flat seats for the VIP Boeing 767-300ER, Starling Aerospace were able to quickly modify their standard design divan for the aircraft. In-house production and certification capabilities under EASA 21J and 21G approvals were fundamental to the fast turnaround of the bespoke Berthable Divan.

“Aeronexus had already displayed interest in our Berthable Divan but an eminent high-profile booking presented an immediate demand for bed on board. All the certification elements had already been addressed therefore we were well equipped to produce the divan within a three-week period,” explains Coralie Wigg, Commercial Director and Co-founder of Starling Aerospace.

The same materials and foam which had already been certified for the VIP Boeing 767-300ER were used. To match the look and feel of the lie flat seats Starling Aerospace upholstered the Berthable Divan using the cream Ultraleather®. To add further texture and contrast of colour, Tan Ultraleather® was used for the bottom section of back rest and padding of the seat arms.

Aeronexus also required a flexible solution to create a privacy area around the divan which wasn’t fixed to the floor. Using their in-house metal work capabilities Starling Aerospace was able to develop a curtain divider with attachment points. Flame retardant curtains were also created in-house by the cut and sew team.

“The aircraft already offers first class lie flat seats but having this discreet and private area fitted with a divan that converts to a comfortable bed is a valuable addition to our aircraft’s luxury passenger experience”, says Gareth Evans, Head of Sales and Marketing at Aeronexus.

The Berthable Divan (available as a single, double, triple or as required) is constructed from an aluminium frame and can be upholstered to suit a variety of aircraft interiors. Optional extras are available including stowage doors, drawers and plug-in arms.

Starling Aerospace Interiors are EASA approved (Manufacturing: UK21G.2581, Repair & Overhaul: UK145.01249, Design: UK21J.538).
